Spring is Springing

Despite my allergies, I do so love Springtime.  I headed outside yesterday afternoon to see what beauty I could capture with the camera.  There was not a lot blooming in my yard yet but here's what I found...

I love my little froggies...you can see the green of the daffodil peeking up behind him but no yellow blooms yet in my yard...I'm patiently waiting.

Up high, the flies are playing, And frolicking, and swaying. The frog thinks: Dance!
I know you'll end up here below.”  ~ Wilhelm Busch

I did find these little purple beauties blooming though...

I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.... People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back. ~Alice Walker, The Color Purple

Brisco Darling was really enjoying soaking up some sun.  I think he's salivating over a squirrel in the woods here...

I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands. When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat. For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that. ~W. Dayton Wedgefarth

I love these two of Dray Dray and Charlene.  He was trying to somehow put the flower behind her little ear.  It doesn't work very well with floppy doggie ears but it was fun to watch him try.

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million. ~Walt Streightiff

This poor little bunny has seen better days but I love the way the moss has grown up around him
We ascribe beauty to that which is simple...~Ralph Waldo Emerson

My treasured friend, Shirley, gave me this windchime that hangs on the front porch.  That's my Bradford Pear Tree blooming behind it.

Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things.

And my favorites, the Bradford Pear...

I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. ~Henry David Thoreau

I hope y'all enjoyed those...   I'll be back tomorrow with Fancy Friday. ~Diane

  1. Really just testing to see if my post goes through.

I have a couple of tulips sprouting up. I thought I got them all dug up and didn't replant them in the fall. But, to my surprise, they are tenacious. In the fall, we planted 21 trees or bushes so I didn't get around to the tulips this year.

  2. Looks like it's working now...not sure what was wrong the other day. I think something got messed up when I changed my template.
Wow! You planted 21 trees? What kind?
Thanks for the comments. At least I know someone is reading this stuff. lol!

  3. A bunch of tea olive trees, butterfly bushes, lantana, hydrangeas. I have know idea what else. I only planted most of the bushes. We have to plant things the deer won't eat. Or, keep the dogs near what we plant. We had this open house/retirement party at our house in November. So, we redid the yard and half the rooms in our house....paint, furniture, bedding, etc. We hadn't done any decorating since we moved into this house. I mean, we had had hardwoods, tile, and bathroom counter tops done, but no really fixing up rooms or getting furniture.
The house is about 7000 sq. foot. It has 9 bedrooms 8 1/2 baths. It's a monster of a house.

What about your new house. Will you have a lot of planting to do? Do the deer eat your plants? It looks like your yard will be a lot bigger. I'm so excited for you all.

  4. Whoa! That's a moster of a house! Our new house is a about 3100 sq ft and that's gonna seem huge to me since I've been living in about 1100! The yard already has a lot of beautiful things planted, just needs some maintenance. The lady's husband passed away from a heart attack 18 months ago and he did all the yard work. She has pretty much just had someone mowing. We did a walk through the house with her last night. She moved all her stuff out so it is empty now. We're gonna start packing some things up today. Exciting but LOTS of work!
