One of the writing prompts over at Mama Kat's this week is to describe the last thing that made me laugh really hard.
Look, I'm not gonna lie here. I really can't remember the last time I buckled over in full blown belly laughter. It just doesn't happen that often. I do, however, find many things amusing so I'm going to try and recall the last 5 things that touched on my giggle box...
1. Brad Pitt's character in the movie, Inglorious Basterds. We recently watched this movie for the first time and loved it so I bought Charlie the dvd for Christmas. OMG, I'll admit it is a little warped as most of Quentin Tarantino's movies are but Pitt had me rolling and howling with laughter as this character.
If you have not seen the movie, he plays Lieutenant Aldo Raine aka "Aldo the Apache", a good ol' boy moonshiner from Tennessee and the non-Jewish leader of the Jewish American-German unit who are going around scalping Nazis during World War II.
I have never seen him more hilarious and I can't stop myself from seeking out every opportunity to say..."I don't like 'at! We don't like 'at, do we?" If you've seen it, well then you get it...If not...you need to watch it!
2. Singing "I got my mind on my chicken and my chicken on my mind!" to the tune of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice".
Let me explain.
Charlene Darling, the wiener dog, aka Li'l Bit had pancreatitis a couple of months ago and ever since I've found that she gets nauseous a lot in the mornings unless I keep a little something on her tummy at all times so I've started keeping boiled chicken breasts on hand and will give her a bite of that in the morning and just before bedtime.
Well, of course I can't leave Brisco Big Boy Darling out so he gets a bite too and it has not taken long at all for them to learn the word "chicken". Every night when it starts nearing bedtime, Li'l Bit starts giving me that I want my chicken now look and sometimes she likes to try and see if she can con me out of more when we are going to bed.
The other night when this is going on, Charlie starts singing I got my mind on my chicken and my chicken on my mind! and I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face.
I realize this may be one of those you just had to be there things but it has become a recurring thing now for us to walk around the house rappin' about chicken. Snoop Dogg ain't got nothin' on me.
3. Dracen trying to wear my big, thick, mismatched fuzzy house socks to school.
Seriously. You never know what this boy is going to do. I caught him with one of my fuzzy house socks on his foot when I went to tuck him in the other night. It was blue with white stripes. He wanted the other one, but we are currently in a major sock crisis over here because it's be awhile since I sorted through the mismatched basket. So I found another one, a purple one, for him.
I actually caught him putting his shoes on over those things the next morning when he was getting ready for school. He will do anything for a laugh. Thank God I caught him before he made it to school like that. I'm sure he would have been seriously working the class clown act and that my judgement would have been up for questioning by his teacher.
4. Dracen telling me he needed a cap at the grocery store.
Okay, this wasn't overly funny at the time because I was pretty stressed out by having both boys at the store at the same time but on the way there I told Dracen he needed to put a lid on it!
About three quarters of the way through the grocery shopping, when I'm about at my wit's end and down to my last good nerve, he says to me that he needs a cap. "Why do you need a cap, Dracen?" I spat through my pursed lips. "Cause you told me I needed one!" This was followed by hysterical laughter from both he and his brother.
And Although I felt like my head was about to blow, I could not help but giggle a little under my breath. Now he goes around telling everybody to "put a cap on it". I've stopped correcting him.
5. A hilarious cat afraid of a mask on AFV.
AFV was on a couple of weeks ago. I don't recall where everyone else was but for some odd reason, I was the only one in the living room watching the t.v. at the time.
They showed a video of a cat terrified of a mask this girl was wearing and the sounds coming out of this cat were hystercial...Mrow..reow, reow, reooww..Mrow...reow, reow, reoow... in a really deep throated spooky kind of I'm 'bout to go all Cujo on your ass kind of way.
I searched the internet high and low for this video but came up short so instead I leave you with a little advice from Lt. Aldo Raine...
Love the Put a cap on it remark. Kids are awesome like that! Visiting from Mama Kat's
ReplyDeleteHow have I missed that movie thus far? Your little guy and his socks and cap comment is just too funny!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to the sock crisis. I've pretty much given up!
ReplyDeleteOh I hate that I can never remember the last thing that really made me laugh... it seems like those things should stick with us!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see that movie when it was in the theaters but I missed it. (I was probably watching something classy like Garfield 2 instead.)
ReplyDeleteMy 8 yr. old steals all my fuzzy socks. I must have 10 pairs of them yet I never can seem to find clean ones in my drawer.
I love big belly laughs! And it seems like our kids provide most of our laughs these day, huh? Thanks for the visit on my site today! Love meeting bloggers via MK's writing prompts.
