Hey, It's Okay...
to dress your wiener dogs up for Halloween and to be really excited to have already found their costumes at TJMaxx last week... a shark and a fairy princess. This is gonna be good.
to turn the volume all the way up on the stereo when you're driving alone in your car and proceed to sing at the top of your lungs even if your singing does sound an awful lot like one of the reject contestants from the first week of American Idol. I do recommend turning it down a notch before doing things like picking up your kids from school or pulling up at a funeral. Just a suggestion though.
to get a call from your neighbors informing you that your two male offspring have just set your mailbox on fire and being relieved to find out that it was only a smoke bomb.
to admit that 7th grade math homework is over your head.
to secretly be a big fan of the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid books and movies and to actually be enjoying reading through them for the second time with your 8 year old.
to dig your phone/blackberry out of your bag to check the time and get sidetracked checking emails and put it back in without ever checking the time and then digging it out again and then doing the same thing 2 or 3 more times before remembering to actually look at the time!
to just say no to fashion trends you don't like, like loafers that look like they belong on a man or faux fur vests and jackets. Eww.
to eat ice cream every day.
to constantly catch yourself saying "back when" things to your kids like, "Back when I was in school we didn't have the internet to do our research. We actually had to go to the library and look things up." and "Back when I was a kid we didn't have cell phones. We had to get out of the car and put money into a phone inside a booth at the gas station if we needed to make a call."
to not really give two cents about football even when you live in a small town in the south where it is pretty much considered a crime and a sin if you do not get all pumped up about some Friday night football.

Phew, thank goodness the ice cream thing is okay. And we are having a hard enough time with 4th grade. Not so much the difficulty of the work, but the quantity of it. Don't 9 year olds still like free time to like play and stuff? I know I do. I feel like I'm in 4th grade again and it sucks because I told beat the 4th grade, awesomely so if I'm honest. Okay, done taking over your comment threqd with my rant:)
ReplyDeleteLol I loved your Hey it's okay post. I sitting here nodding my head yes to so many of them.
ReplyDeleteI also love turning the radio up and singing along. Makes me feel like a teenager again, and yes I find myself saying back when I was a kid.
We are big fans of the Wimpy Kid books and movies here, too!
ReplyDeleteI’m pretty certain that ALL math is over my head, and no day is complete without cool ice cream!
ReplyDeleteLOL, this made me laugh-especially about singing in the car. I forgot I rolled my back windows down one day last week and was singing Katie Perry's "Last Friday Night". Oops!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me on my SITS day.
Oh my gosh. I laughed at every single one of these and I so needed a laugh today! Funny story...my daughter called someone's house yesterday and got a busy signal. She looked at me, alarmed, and said "what is that sound? what does it mean?" My explanation started off with, "back when we didn't have call waiting..." lol Thanks for stopping by my place. Have a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to a college with a football team. I haven't gotten into Clemson football, but don't tell my neighbors. They love it.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, even 4th grade math can be over my head and that's embarrassing. I forgot how to do division with a remainder..
ReplyDeleteI can't get excited about Friday night football(or any football at all!) Glad I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeletethings I am not looking forward to: my future children's math homework in ANY grade. yikes!
ReplyDeleteI don't have wiener dogs, but I love dressing my boys for halloween. Last year they were a squirrel and a bee. This year...a dragon and a cowboy on a horse.
ReplyDeleteI totally do the singing in the car thing. Mostly because I'm the only one that can stand my singing.
And if it makes you feel any better, I think (it was a while ago) 4th grade math proved to be beyond me.
Oh my goodness, I do the "way back when" too! I'm reminding myself of my mother, I thought this day would never come, but sadly it has reached me.
