Then of course there's the Danbury Mint bird I've gotten every year since 2004...
And this year when I went into Hallmark, I noticed they had started a new series of whimsical little birds so the crazy bird lady in me had to start that one too. (Clearly, I have a problem!)...
A few years back I started trying to get an ornament at every new place I visited. I really wish I had thought of this idea sooner. I bought a few of those at the places we visited this year. This one is from Maine....It's the little restaurant on the water in downtown Camden that we ate lunch at one day...
But none of them can put a smile on my face like my happy little smiling elves.
I.love.me.some.elves!
My mother-in-law, Pat (Darin's mom), has a collection of these little guys that she's had for forever and ever amen and once Darin moved out on his own, he would go over for a visit when the elves were out at Christmastime and kidnap them when she wasn't looking.
I still have two of those old vintage guys, one of whom appears to be staying together by the support of a single forty plus year old thread. He's got an unfortunate case of the old elf wobbles. And the other one is not in much better shape himself. Bless their little hearts!
Yes, Pat knows I still have them. She allows them to live here. She even bought me a new one several years back. And last year? I scored me some brand spankin' new pointy shoe wearin' dudes to keep them all company and scattered them out around the house...
And two more again this year...
I am on an elf roll!
But this year I put them all together, way up high atop the entertainment center so they can keep watch over the boys and the wiener dogs and tell me all about every teeny, tiny, sneaky little thing they do or trick they try to play.
Muahaha!
There's one of the ancient wobbly heads there with the green and white stockings and Pinocchio nose. I just love that little old elf man! |
This one's just flat out showing off. |
Hope y'all enjoyed my little elves as much as I do...
And if anybody knows of any who are looking for a good home, please send them my way! ;)

I love your elves.
ReplyDeleteEvery year I say I'm going to start a village set. Then, once home, realize I do not have the space. :)
My mama still has some elves on her tree:)
ReplyDeleteThey creep me out!
Your elves are absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love your elves. I have one on a ladder going up the tree in a photo I posted today. Check it out.
ReplyDeleteI like Christmas ornaments too and birds are a lovely idea. Your elves brought back memories of childhood Christmases and the elves with attached arms wrapped around bent knees my Mother used to set out. I think you have a couple of those. I also really like the Annalee felt figures which I think I saw in your photos as well. Hope your elves continue to bring a smile in your heart and reminder of the joy in the season.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend said my Annalee elves creep her out too. I think they are cute. You have quite the collection of elves.~Ames
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I had a collection of cloth elves that were beautifully made. I kept them hidden every year until Christmas, and then I placed them in rather obscure places in my yard. They were visable, but not clearly. When my children misbehaved, I reminded that the elves were watching and would report to Santa. Then I told them to go outside and see if they were watching.
ReplyDeleteMy two sisters and I each have a little Elf ornament from our childhood.
ReplyDeleteOh I especially enjoy those exciting elves that love showing off! What a great festive post...and how lucky you are to be able to have so many cool elves right in your own house!
ReplyDeleteI love your ornaments and your elves. What a cool collection that you have.
ReplyDeleteI think it is such fun that you "borrow" elves.
ReplyDeleteHallmark makes some of the best ornaments. Getting a new ornament form there is a tradition of ours.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of Hallmark ornaments that I've collected over the years...they bring back many warm memories during Christmastime. I love your elf collection...super cute!
ReplyDeleteWondering if all those sweet little elves wait until everyone is asleep and then they climb down off the mantle and get into mischief and party...back in place by morning and no one the wiser...
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
I love your bird ornaments! But the elves... yeah, they creep me out a bit!
ReplyDeleteThe whimsical blue bird is gorgeous, really! And all the elves sitting together is a sight. A sight that would scare the absolute crap outta me, ha! I'd swear they were watching me. Like taylorsoutback said above, they probably get down, shake a leg, and get back up there (always w/one who had too much eggnog and needs help just before you turn on the lights). OK I'm a little far out there, sorry.
ReplyDeleteenchanting, that eclectic collection of elves!
ReplyDeleteI think I like snowmen like you like elves! You reminded me that I need to get into a Hallmark and get my 2011 ornament. I love everything you showed us here!
ReplyDeleteSuperb ‘E’ post – too cute!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend & look forward to *seeing* you soon.
Here’s mine
Oh my, so many elves! They are so cute. We always pick up a new ornament every year too!
ReplyDeleteDUDE. Your elf collection is INSANE!!!! But in a good way! ((Please don't hurt me crazy elf lady!!!))
ReplyDeleteI used to have some vintage elf shelf sitters but lost them when we moved :-( I always look for them at thrift stores but havent had any luck I guess everyone loves their elves and dont want to donate them
ReplyDeleteI love your birds...I've gone a little bird crazy lately, so they spoke to me. And the elves are a combination of creepy and cuteness. I just hope one day you don't wake up with all the little elves staring at you. Cuz that would be weird! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your elves on the shelf! Gotto tell my daughter, whose face Christmas movie is "Elf!"
ReplyDeleteAbd your first bird is my favorite - beautiful!
I love your elves - they are such a happy bunch!
ReplyDeleteSuhwweeeet! good to see another elf post:)
ReplyDeleteHello.
ReplyDeleteWoW! You've got your own little elf village! (lol)
