I don't have a problem with warm weeks throughout my winters. Really I prefer it that way, but I do like to see at least one good snowfall that will shut down the town for a couple of days and have everyone buying up all the milk and bread when the word "snow" is mentioned in the forecast.. "Oh, did he say Snow? Quick child, get in the car. We must buy milk and bread at once!" It's like some sort of survival instinct every southerner is just born with. Snow = milk and bread.
But no empty bread shelves to speak of yet this winter which prompted me to look through my photos at past snows and really, you just haven't lived until you've watched a Dachshund attempt to run in the snow with those short, little legs of theirs. And I got a new camera lens for Christmas that I'd really love to try out so if anyone knows a snow dance, please send me the steps.

I found this one of Dixie Dog's last snow in early March of 2009 so I suppose there is still plenty of hope left yet for this year...
And though I don't have a photo of Dixie or the Darlings after they'd been in the snow, since they are longhaired, they come in looking something like this poor little guy...

I had to laugh when I came across this the other night because to know a Dachshund is to know that Stubborn is the main name of their game...
Why Dachshunds should not be sled dogs. |
But I'm not going to ask them to pull a sled, I just want to take funny pics of them in the snow. Plus, Charlene would really like to try out her new Christmas duds...
My Tucker loves the snow. He comes in looking like that picture.
ReplyDeleteI like one big snow cause I know it will be gone in a week.
ReplyDeletePoor Charlene
I so want snow also. I can't believe it going to be in the 70's here in North Georgia this week.
ReplyDeleteChuckles!
ReplyDeleteEspecially the snow belly ones AND the dog sled.
One year we had easily 3 feet of snow on the ground. 2 storms back to back I think. One of my co-worker's sons was bored (and snowed in)so he started digging a path out in the back yard... that turned into a maze... three feet deep.
ReplyDeleteHe let the dog out in it.
All you could see was the top of her tail. :)
It didn't snow up north last year either, when I didn't have to fly home for Christmas, but it did this year and messed with my travel plans.
ReplyDeleteI never have understood why everyone makes french toast when it snows in the south! ;-) One time I actually was out of milk and I felt so sheepish in line with a gallon of milk when bad weather was forecast.
I would love to have a day or two of snow. Send the kids outside to play.... make hot chocolate and a fire:)
